New MLitt Module in Creative Writing
Our approach to course revision is described online. If students choose not to complete the dissertation requirement for the MLitt, there is an exit award available that allows suitably qualified candidates to receive a Postgraduate Diploma. Small, bespoke and intimate, our creative writing course gets you writing from week one and has you feeling like a “real” writer from the very start.
An explanation of the creative project may also be included with the application. Assessment for the research-led modules is mlittt by essay 2, words or 2, words. Students choose two optional modules in a chosen subject area prose or poetry to take over both Semesters 1 and 2. All students must attempt the dissertation.
The qualifications listed are indicative minimum requirements for entry. Each module can be studied separately, or as part of a full degree or diploma that can be taken part time or full time. Recent students’ successes include a first novel coming out with Sandstone this year, a placement in Canongate Publishing, Writers’ Awards from Creative Scotland and the Scottish Books Trust, and the performance of a play.
Students take one compulsory module on research skills in Semester 1 and dundre modules in a chosen area over both semesters. Applicants should apply wriiting early as possible for international visa purposes.
